Wow, talk about atmospheric. From setting foot in the plant-filled Barbican conservatory to taking our places overlooking the dimly-lit catwalk to the sounds of tribal bongo drums, we were immersed in the Di Liborio vision.
The inspiration behind the collection? A faraway galaxy, on a tropical forest-covered planet called ‘Beautiful Woman Entirely’, which is populated by strong women who are soldiers and priestesses.
Sounds interesting huh? Wait until you see the collection….
Progressing from long light tunics through to dark, punk-like blacks with ripped tights and silver chime-like details, the pieces often looked as if they had been disassembled and delicately reassembled again. Laser and parallel cuts created hypnotic waves as if they’d been slashed by an alien feline, and the room was set alive with metallic noises for the finale, where the models all ‘shimmy-d’ on cue to create a wave of shimmering silver.
All this was brought together by the surly mood set by the very much in-character models, who wore viper contact lenses and made a point to stare into our souls with maximum attitude whilst we took pictures.
It looks like we’ll be taking detailing to an audible level for Spring/Summer 2018, and I am 100% on board.
