As the world gets more and more digital, online shopping continues to take over the retail industry. Whatever it is you’re buying, you’ve likely found a fair few options on the internet. But online shopping is seldom without its risks and, if you’re buying an expensive item like a wedding guest outfit, work clothes or just looking for that perfect dress, you might not be prepared to take those inevitable risks!
Regardless of what clothes you’re splashing the cash on, it’s always better to see it, feel it and try it on before you spend — which brings me to Duchess London’s new My Fitting Room service. The first of its kind in Europe, this is a service aimed at women who lead a busy lifestyle, switching between work and social life and need a convenient solution that allows time to find the perfect dress.
I have previously discussed that when I travel for business, I want to be smart, fashionable and comfortable, but that isn’t always as easy as it sounds. Luckily, Duchess London has a solution to this problem. From evening wear to work clothes for women, the wide range of dresses stocked are designed to fit any environment and social setting, so you can look elegant and stylish whatever your day entails. With the help of My Fitting Room, you can make sure you find exactly what you’re after.
So, I hear you ask, how is it different from regular online shopping?
Essentially, My Fitting Room lets you try Duchess London products on before you have to pay for them, thereby removing any risk of wasting time and money. How? It brings the fitting room to you.
Customers are able to choose up to three dresses from the website and have these sent to their address; just as easy and practical as normal online shopping. However, rather than take the gamble on fit and material, you are able to try the dresses on in the comfort of your own home and make an educated decision on if any are right for you.
You enter your payment and postage details and go ahead with the order as you would on any site, but you will never be charged until you have contacted Duchess London to confirm which one of the dresses (if any) you want to keep. Your details are on a pre-authorization basis, so that if you do decide on a dress or two, Duchess London will go ahead and charge you for only the price what you want to wear.
The dresses initially arrive right at your doorstep, free of charge. You are then given 24 hours to try them on and make your decision. If you have a busy week or month, you can schedule the dresses to arrive on a day or evening that you know you have some time to relax and assess the dresses yourself.
If you happen to not take a shine to any of the items sent to you, they are all collected, free of charge, without you losing a penny for the entire process. Some of the dresses at Duchess London are fabulous; any of my readers will know I’m a big fan of Audrey Hepburn, so the Hepburn dress is something I would love to try out — but regardless of the product, I would want to trial it first. This really seems like something that could be part of the future of online shopping.
Removing the risks and the potential hassle of online shopping makes it much more of a stress-free experience. If you’ve got a busy weekend ahead and don’t know what to wear for that Christmas do or New Year’s Eve party, it’s the perfect answer to your struggle of fitting everything into your hectic schedule. Christmas is a crazy time of the year and you want to be reducing your to-do list, rather than increasing it. I love a bit of shopping but I like to try things on before and, sometimes, I just don’t want to enter the chaos!
